17. Awareness raising: young people (10+) with sexually harmful behaviours

A course for people from all agencies and disciplines who work with young people.. Participants can include teachers, social workers, foster carers, nursery staff, residential care staff, youth and community workers, faith leaders and volunteers. The course is very useful for those who might never be involved in providing assessments or intervention with young people who sexually abuse, but who would benefit from a greater understanding and insight into this area.


Course overview

The course is an introduction to the subject of young people (10+) who sexually abuse and does not require that participants have any previous knowledge or experience in this area of work. Participants gain a general awareness of the nature and scale of the problem, and some of the ways in which it is being addressed.

Course aims

  • To increase participants' knowledge and understanding of young people who sexually abuse

  • To provide clear information on this subject based on current research
